William Rupert Edgecombe's Obituary
William was born on December 4, 1930 in Monseratt West Indies to the late John and Cecelia Edgecombe. He was the youngest of 6 children.He came to the states in 1950 and was drafted into the United States Army in 1951. While in the U. S. Army he worked as an Electrician and later a Chef. He served both active and reserve and retired after 32 years of service.He met the love his life Christine and they have shared 57 years. William had six children, the late Wayne and Warren Edgecombe, Renee Whittaker, John (Sandra) Edgecombe, Linda (Nathaniel) Bartley, and Samantha Edgecombe.While in the United States Army reserves William worked for the U.S. Post office and also retired from the New York State Department of Corrections in 1994. William was a member of the American Legion Post 0077 and a Lifetime member of the Non Commissioned Officer's Association (NCOA).In his free time William enjoyed fishing, dancing and spending time with family and friends. His passion was being a chef and cooking for military, family events and weddings.William was called home on August 21, 2018. He leaves to mourn, his wife Christine, his children: Renee, John, Linda and Samantha. His only living sibling, Marie Edgecombe age 91 who resides in England, eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
