Valerie Ingrid Ann June Baptiste's Obituary
Valerie Ingrid Ann June Baptiste, better known as Val, was born on September 17, 1953 as the first child to Nevlyn and Vernon Baptiste in Egypt, Trinidad.
Valerie attended Vissigny Secondary School in Trinidad before migrating to Brooklyn, NY as a teenager in 1968. After. she graduated from Bay Ridge HS in Brooklyn, Val completed her undergraduate degree at Long Island University with a double major; A Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Sociology. Throughout her life, there were three things that absolutely stirred Val's passion; Reading, Education, and Cooking. Val, who was an avid reader, was intent on passing-on her love of education to the next generation, so she often served as our resident tutor. Val spent the last 12 years living in Georgia honing her passion for cooking, namely French and Italian cuisine. In 2008 Val decided to augment her skills by attending The Art Institute of Atlanta, and she received her certificate in Culinary Arts. She was called home on October 5, 2017. She is survived in death by her parents Nevlyn and Vernon Baptiste. Her beloved sisters, Noreen, Charlene, Sharon, Amanda, Bianca, Helen, Greta, and Petra and her adoring brothers Garvin, Wendell, and Knolly. One Aunt Alma Smart, Her memory will be eternally cherished by her only child Angelique-Nicole and her loving grandson Langston. Langston will absolutely miss his "Nana." She leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews Jaron, Tara-Marie, Dominique, Andre, Lisa and Lori, Gabrielle, Naomi, Tatyanna, Brianna, Ashley, Karina, Kayla and Blake including the children of Knolly, Helen, Greta and Petra. She had host of grand nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her In-Laws: Carmen, Tony, and Carl, and a cavalcade of cousins and friends.
