Mr. Tommie Lee Sanford, 86 of age, was born in Madison, Georgia, County of Morgan, on January 20, 1930, to Mr. and Mrs. Simon and Mozella Sanford, of Madison, Georgia.
Out of their Union was Two (2) children: Mr. Tommie Lee Sanford; and, Mrs. Cora Whitehead.
Mr. Sanford, was the Eldest of Seven (7) children: Preceded in death by Two (2) sisters, Mrs. Cora Whitehead and Ms. Mary (Teen) L. Gunn.
Surviving sisters and brother: Mrs. Ella Kelly, Mrs. Mozelle Jeffries (Bishop Opie), Mrs. Willie B. Whitehead and Mr. Bennie R. Gunn.
Mr. Sanford, would always share the 20th of February with favorite and best friend, First (1st) Cousin Mr. Fred Lewis (Carolyn), for Birthdays.
Mr. Sanford, was an Interstate Truck Driver, for more than 20 years. He left Indianapolis, Indiana, to make California his domicile for over 55 years.
Mr. Sanford's, domicile in California was 3919 W Garden Grove Blvd, Orange, CA 92868, for over 15 years. He was very proud to be the ONLY African-American man that was EVERY allowed in the Community Garden Tower in Orange, California, from 1977 until the time of Mr. Sanford's transition into spirit form.
After retirement Mr. Sanford, became very passionate about his hobby, Horse Racing and could be found at Los Alamitos Race Course frequently.
Mr. Sanford, was married Three (3) times in life and contributed to raising Six (6) other children; but, Out of the Second (2nd) Union with Stella (Estella) S. Sanford, came his ONLY and surviving child a daughter: Dr. Sarah A. Brown-Johnson Bey DD. (Sanford) of Hampton, Georgia; Two Grandchildren: Mr. Sertonius O'Neil Brown (Aruna), of Dahlgren, Virginia; and, Ms. Andrea Nacole Brown, of Hampton, Georgia; Four Great Grandchildren: Mr. Rasheed Alik Brown (Jacqueline); Ms. Melanie Aruna Brown and Mr. Sertonius O'Neil Brown II of Dahlgren, Virginia; and, Ms. Michaela Andrea Brown of Hampton, Georgia. Mr. Sanford, also leaves behind his companion: Mrs. Mattie Steward, of Irvine, California; his long time best-friend: Mr. Dave, of Anaheim, California; and Mr. Don, of Stanton, California; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.
