Sylvia S Canady's Obituary
Sylvia Shumaker Canady was born, Friday, January 23, 1953 in Lithonia, Georgia, to the late Mrs. Lillian Shumaker Wright and Mr. Floyd Robinson. In the mid-morning, Sylvia surrendered to God's will and took her heavenly flight, Monday, November 19, 2018. At an early age, Sylvia gave her life to Christ and was a faithful member of Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1987, she joined Evergreen Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Henry E. Loyal, Sr. Sylvia served faithfully in the Gospel Mass Choir, the Usher Board Ministry and on the Kitchen Committee until her health begin to fail.Sylvia was married to the late Mr. Willie James Canady and to this union a son, the late Mr. Rodrizous Canady was born.Sylvia was a product of the Atlanta Public School System. She graduated in 1971 from Hoke Smith High School.God gifted Sylvia with the ability to go above and beyond what she was called to do, no matter the circumstance she rose above it all. She was a food connoisseur, who loved to dance and play spades. Sylvia was an exceptional mother, grandmother, sister, cousin and friend.Sylvia S. Canady leaves to cherish her memory two children, a son, Mr. Santories Williams, Sr. and a daughter, Ms. Shakera Floyd; four grandchildren, Ms. Diamond Williams, Little Miss Shakari Floyd, Little Master Santories Williams, Jr., and Little Miss ShaNeal Barnes; four brothers, Mr. Jackson (Elaine) Shumaker, Mr. Ricky (Carrie) Robinson, Sr., Mr. Forrest (Felecia) Buffington and Mr. Wylie Buffington; two sisters, Ms. Wanda Buffington and Mrs. Lori Shumake Patterson; one special aunt, Mrs. Dorothy (Claude) Carmichael; sisters of the heart, Ms. Tarlecia Barker, Ms. Ora Bell and Ms. Toni Johnson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
