Sylvester Cassidy Rodney's Obituary
Sylvester Cassidy Rodney affectionately known as the Godfather and Uncle Silly to some and Winston to others. He was born November 1st 1946 in the Parish of Manchester, Jamaica to the late Clarence and Diana Rodney. He was the youngest of 11 children-4 sisters Violet, Urseline, Edna, and Lucille preceded him in death.
He attended Pratville elementary school in Jamaica were he received his diploma.
In 1970 he came to the states and settled in New York. In 1978 he met Gloria Crawford. From this union 2 sons were born, Etrice and Marcus. Although that union dissolved the two remained good friends. In the 90's He met Kathleen Miller and they married in 2000 and gained five step children.
Sylvester worked for Donno Sanitation for 10 yrs. He also worked for The Town of North Hempstead for 15 yrs. Upon retiring Sylvester and Kathleen move to Conyers Georgia where they spent their final 4 years.
Kathleen preceded him in death 3 months ago.
Sylvester enjoyed gardening, playing a good game of domino's and spending time with his family. He leaves to cherish his memories his Son's Etrice (Samee) and Marcus. Two granddaughters Taylor and Amarra. His sisters Ita (Rudolph) Pearl(Ezra) Ethline(Leonard), Inez, and Uda. One brother Aston. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends. Sanford, Owen, Autley, and Cooper to name a few.
He was strong in his faith and live his life accordingly. He was kind, generous and loved by many.
On March 23,2020 a trumpet sounded from the heavens calling Sylvester Rodney home. With conviction in his heart he answered. Though he will be missed by all who had been blessed by him, we can take comfort in the fact he now dwells in the presence of the almighty God. So, we shall not weep for his death but instead we shall celebrate his life
