Sylvester Devon Peterkin's Obituary
Sylvester Devon Peterkin Sr. was born June 23, 1981, in Miami, Florida as the second born to Corina Boatwright and Ivon Peterkin. As a young boy, he attended Olinda Elementary, Cedar Grove Middle and Southwest DeKalb High School. He had three children, Alana Cannon, Joselyn Peterkin and Sylvester Peterkin Jr.
As a young adult, Sylvester moved to Metter, Ga. where it became his permanent home. He loved making music, artwork, dancing and spending time with his family.
He departed this life to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, March 10, 2023, at his home in Metter, Ga.
Sylvester leaves to cherish his memories his mother Corina Boatwright, step-father Ronald Robinson, father Ivon Peterkin, his "Pops" James Mercer Sr., his long-time companion Jasmine Ricks, three adorable children Alana Cannon, Joselyn Peterkin and Sylvester Peterkin Jr., four brothers; Tavaris (Kristie) Peterkin, James (Summer Collins) Mercer Jr., Jamal (Breanna) Mercer and Antonio Sweeting, sisters Shonte' Smith and Yolanda Andrews; five aunts; Vivian Willies, Rosia Pinkney, Louise Boatwright, Tangler Boatwright and Malinda (Desmond Goodman) Boatwright, five uncles; Johnny Nesbitt Sr., Ulysses Boatwright Sr., Robert Boatwright, Freddie Boatwright, Homer (Sabrina) Boatwright, two dear friends; Ricky Mullins, Markus Benson and a host of other relatives and friends.
