Susan Lorraine Heard-Hamm's Obituary
Susan Lorraine Heard Hamm was born December 27, 1965 in Decatur, Georgia to the late James Heard and Carol Matthews Heard. She was the middle child and only girl of this union growing up with her brothers Allan and Johnny. She was educated in the Rockdale County School System and graduated from Heritage High School. She was a devoted employee with the Gwinnett Rehabilitative Center for many years where she enjoyed caring for her patients and transporting them to and from various events and functions. Susan was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Gerald Hamm on April 6, 2000. They became sweethearts after high school and remained that way forever. To this union, Susan and Gerald were loving parents to one daughter, Ashley, one son, Tevin and two grandsons, Jamel and Jayden. She was devoted to God and her family and remained a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Susan dearly loved her family and friends. She along with her family including husband, son and grandsons attended Bethel Christian Church, Conyers, Georgia, in which they were actively involved until recent times. Susan really enjoyed her church family and appreciated all the wonderful love and outreach that were rendered. Before her illness she enjoyed browsing early morning estate, garage and yard sales. She also enjoyed fishing with Gerald, cooking and taking long rides. Susan was called home on Thursday, April 20, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Heard and Carol Matthews Heard, and her daughter, Ashley Lorraine Heard. Susan leaves to cherish her in memories: her loving and devoted husband, Gerald Hamm; one son, Tevin Hamm; two grandsons, Jamel Heard and Jayden Reid; two brothers, Allan Heard and Johnny Heard (Darinda); a very special niece, Rita Heard Oglesby; three aunts, Gloria Richardson, Linda Blair and Mae Lou Hartsfield (Samuel); one great aunt, Allean Hamm; three sister-in-laws, Sandra Goodwin, Debora Clark and Shirley Hamm; four uncles, a very dear uncle Willie Zanders, Jimmy Zanders, Waymon Zanders, and James Usher; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family and dear friends
