SARAH HAMILTON's Obituary
It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Ms. Sarah Hamilton. Ms. Hamilton passed in Conyers, Georgia on Tuesday, November 14, 2023.
Sarah Wyonia Jordan was born to Frederick Douglas Jordan and Charlie Marie Spellman Jordan in Maple, North Carolina on April 12, 1939. Sarah was the youngest of ten children. Her mother gave her the nickname of "Tiny" because she was such a small baby. Her mother told the story of how a visitor almost sat on her baby because the visitor did not notice her because she was so small. Her family and close friends called her Tiny, or Aunt Tiny. She grew up and attended school in Currituck County. She was adored by her parents and thrived in school, participating in after-school activities. Sarah was very outgoing and was well liked making friends easily. She made life-long friendships that she cherished. She joined Good Hope A.M.E. Zion as a young child where her mother was a major supporter. Sarah learned about the goodness of God at a young age and never stopped trusting and worshiping Him. Upon graduation from high school, she attended Norfolk State University, and relocated to Washington D.C. before completing studies at Norfolk State. She lived with her sister, Hawaii while working and completing Cortez Peters Business School. She was married to Andrew Hamilton on February 29, 1964 for five years. As a young lady, she started working for the federal government where she worked for over 30 years until retirement. After retirement, she and her sister, Hawaii, relocated to Chesapeake, VA. She was once again, close to her childhood home. She soon started a new career with Sentara Insurance Company where she worked for 19 years until her second retirement. Sarah joined Ebenezer Baptist Church and worshiped there until her move to Conyers, GA in 2021. Once in Conyers, she worshiped and became a member of Rock Temple AME Church. Sarah was fun-loving, caring, and giving. She was a sharp dresser, and her sassy attitude matched her décor. She was always looking to pull someone up. She was first to visit the sick and freely offered a helping hand to those in need. She loved her family. Her family was second only to God. Her faith was unshakable, and she reminded us that "it's not what you say or proclaim, it's what's in your heart that matters." Sarah now joins her big brothers and sisters in heaven: Earl Jordan, Charley Jordan, Francis Jordan, Alec Jordan, Emile Bruce Jordan, Frederick Jordan, Ceasar Jordan, Mable Jordan, Hawaii Jordan Johnson along with her parents, Frederick Douglas Jordan and Charlie Marie Jordan. Also, a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. What a Hallelujah good time. She leaves behind to cherish her and keep in our hearts nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, her niece in spirit and loving caregiver, family and friends.
