Rudolph Valentino Christian's Obituary
Rudolph Valentino Christian - son of Henry & Roxsanna Pearl Christian was born May 2, 1927. He was the third of 6 children. Rudy attended school and 2nd Union Baptist Church in Goochland County, VA. He travelled north to New Rochelle, NY at the age of 16 yrs with working papers to be closer to older sisters Louise & Algie LaVern. He worked at Griffin Ford Dealership started as a janitor and worked his way up to head mechanic in charge of the new car division. His last job was with the City of New Rochelle as a mechanic where he retired at age 55. Rudy worked tirelessly first in the Masons and later in the Elks. Attaining Past Worshipful Master in the Prince Hall Masons in New Rochelle. He last served as Grand Exulted Ruler in the Elks. Many people loved Rudy and there were 4 very special women in his life. Miriam Collins-Christian (deceased); Dorothy Christian; Mavis Seeney (deceased); & Carolyn Broughton-Christian. Rudy and Carolyn moved to Georgia in 2003 and continued to support the work of The I.B.P.O.E in Georgia in the H. M. Turner Elks Lodge, he was a Trustee. Rudy was an entrepreneur his whole life. He bought The Den Bar around 1975 in New Rochelle and owned it about 12-15 years. He ran his own part time business as a mechanic all his life. He fulfilled a dream to own a large property where he could have and work on vehicles of all sizes. He registered his business as Valentino & Sons at "The Ponderosa" in Lithonia GA to be able to work on as many vehicles as he wished. Two 10-wheeler dump trucks, an excavator, a bobcat, a trailer & RV. Grandsons Tony, Adonis & Larry spent many hours with him there. He is proceeded in death by his son Karl Christian, Siblings Louise Duckett, Robert Christian & LaVern Dews, Rudy is survived by younger sisters Pearl Quarles Gladys Christian (Morris) both in NY. Rudy's Legacy: Children - Patricia Hunt (Robert in DE), Paula Stallworth (Thomas - GA), Anita Harper,(Ga) Nancy Christian, daughter-law,Tina Epps (Howard - GA), Jimmy Broughton (Amy - NC), Jenny Lynn Broughton-McCoig (FL), Caroline Broughton-McCoig (SC), Crystal Broughton (GA). 35 grandchildren, 10 great-grands. Host of nieces, nephews, cousins & people like family at his church, Word Reaching Destiny, the Property/Ponderosa, The Elks in New Rochelle, NY & Atlanta, GA.
