Roy Lee Williams' Obituary
On December 28, 1934, a baby boy was born to the late Freddie Sr. and Gussie Mae (Hill) Willams in Morgan County, Georgia. They named him Roy Lee. He was the third of seven children; two brothers (Freddie Jr. and Thelma) preceded him in death.
Roy was educated in the Social Circle School System. His long-term employment was held at Nabisco where he retired in the year 2000 after 34 years of committed service. He was a faithful and life-long member of Knox Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Social Circle, Georgia where he served as a dedicated usher for decades.
On December 21, 1967, he married his sweetheart, Sarah Jean Ivey. This union was blessed with five children; one daughter, Lorica Leontenette, preceded him in death. Roy was a dedicated father who was a kind, hardworking, and humble person with a quiet demeanor. While he absolutely adored spending time with his children and family, his passion was working in his garden and maintaining the lawn.
He departed this earthly life on January 23, 2022, leaving a legacy of love to his daughters: Cathy Williams, Charla Williams, both of Conyers, GA, Carissa "Bre" Williams, Atlanta, GA; son: Rodrick Williams of Decatur, GA, grandchildren: Tiffany, Emily, Drake, Christopher, Aliyah, Caleb, Jada, Jalen, and Jaden; great-grandchildren: Caiden, Nasir, and Zahir; godson: Clinton Williams of Decatur, GA; sister: Ruby (Albert) Jackson of Atlanta, GA; brothers: Paul (Helen) Williams of Conyers, GA, Rev. Joseph (Josephine) Williams of Atlanta, GA, and Ted (Catherine) Williams of Monroe, GA; a special friend and long-time coworker: Mr. William Hunter of Decatur, GA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
