ROLAND CHARLES JOHNSON's Obituary
On February 4, 1942, Roland Charles Johnson, entered the world and Macon, Georgia; with a bang and a twin Rudolph Bernard Johnson (deceased). His parents General Lee Johnson and Alma Marie Johnson welcomed them as the first of five (5) children. (Gerald (deceased), Tim (deceased) and Patricia (Donnie Woodard).
As the eldest of five siblings (by 4 seconds), Roland was a mischievous little altar boy. He graduated from St. Peter Claver Catholic School and Ballard Hudson High School in 1960. He always said that he knew in high school that he wanted to be a brick mason and work with his hands. He also knew that he wanted to get married and have a family since he came from a big family.
In 1961, he married the love of his life Priscilla Laine Lowe. They were married for 64 years and are the parents of Chiquita T. Johnson, Esq. and Roland Michael Johnson (Lakeyshia), a commercial carrier. Roland delighted in his role as husband and father and was overjoyed at the arrival of two (2) granddaughters, Leslie India Jordan in November of 1989 and Mya Simone Johnson in March of 2002. All kids gravitated to and loved Roland.
Roland was a big personality who loved to polish his kid's school shoes, was an expert on Kirby vacuum cleaners, loved all types of music but especially Otis Redding, and was an expert commercial sub-contractor for over 40 years. He was proud of his work and mentioned that he completed projects such as the Atlanta Federal Prison and Heritage Highschool in Conyers, Georgia, during his working years.
Roland was innovative and could fix anything and always had a home beautification project going. He was a WWE wrestling fan and a lover of funny cars, Dually trucks, the NHRA ("National Hot Rod Association"), good food and drink and spending time with his brothers and life-long friends.
Roland loved elaborate Hallmark cards and big candy hearts from Russell Stover and spending time with his family and seeing his kids and granddaughters laugh and smile. He was the perfect blend of hard and soft and his magic touch on all our lives will be forever missed.
