Robert M Grant Jr.'s Obituary
Robert Malloyd Grant, Jr. was born on May 26, 1962 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Diane Delores Thomas Grant and Robert Malloyd Grant, Sr. Robert accepted Christ as his savior at an early age. He received his formal education in the Baltimore City Public School System and was a graduate of Frederick Douglas High School Class of 1981. Robert furthered his education and attended North American Training Academy in Newark, New Jersey where he received a Commercial Truck Driving certification in 1984.
Robert enjoyed a career in the trucking industry for 33 years. He obtained driving endorsements for passenger, tank vehicle and hazardous materials transport.
Robert met the former Sandra Wilder in Baltimore, Maryland in 1983 and they were united in holy matrimony on June 17, 1988. Together, Robert and Sandra became a Husband and Wife Over the Road Driving Team. Their career allowed them to travel to all 48 of the contiguous states in the United States of America, Alaska and many parts of Canada. Throughout their travels, Robert and Sandra made many friends across the country. He never met a stranger and even continued communicating with family and friends during his illness. He always closed a telephone conversation with them with "I love you".
He and Sandra eventually settled in Conyers, Georgia, where they developed a strong community of neighbors and friends. They enjoyed spending holidays and various celebrations with their Georgia circle.
Robert leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife of 32 years, Sandra Grant; brothers, William "Will" Smith, III (Angela), Frank Royster (Paula); sisters, Alicia Scott (Howard), Rev. Robin Turner (Herbert); mother-in-law, Doretha Coley; father-in-law, Sammy Wilder (Barbara); brothers-in-law, Alfonso Coley (Kassandra), Ernest Williams and Randle McCray; sisters-in law, Evetta Brunson and Sylvia Gamble; a very dear and devoted cousin whom he regarded as a brother, Tyler Tyson, Jr.; a special aunt and uncle, Cleavy Thomas and Alton Thomas, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Robert also held a special place in his heart for his furbabies, Ali and Fritz.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Diane and Robert Grant, Sr., and his brother, George Grant.
