Rev. Elmer Lee Pride Sr.'s Obituary
Rev. Elmer Lee Pride, Sr. went to be in the presence of his dear Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, February 10, 2022, in Atlanta, Georgia with his loved ones near him, while his favorite hymns were played.
Elmer was born on October 10, 1947, in Cherokee, Alabama to the late Bethelrine (nee Goodloe) and Roe Pride. He was a curious child, always wondering how things worked; that would grow up to spark his desire in mechanics and education. He worked for CSX Transportation for 37 years as a locomotive engineer. He attended Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, Alabama for mechanical engineering. Elmer became an ordained minister in June of 1989 and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies on July 14, 2012 from Beulah Heights University in Atlanta, Georgia.
Throughout his life, his goal for his legacy was to embody resilience and embrace forgiveness. One of his favorite quotes was from Dr. Myles Monroe, "We cannot go back and change the beginning, but we can start from here and change the ending." He ended his life as a servant to Christ. He could give you a sermon at a moment's notice; and according to his daughter, instead of preaching his sermon, he 'said' it so that it was a teaching moment. He was a man of few words, but when he spoke it was impactful.
Elmer leaves to cherish his memory: Wife - Barbara Pride (nee Silver), Children - Michael Peters, Carol Pride Dunklin (Clarence), Ervin Daniels III) (Nadia), Elmer Lee Pride II, Zackery Pride (Jocelyn), Grandchildren - Jazmyne, Jaliah, Josiah, Dustin, Christopher, Devin, Elmer III (EJ), Tylea, Cameron, Chris, Eden and Emerie, Siblings - Melvin (Marcy), Oliver (Mary*), Gloria* (Curtis), Kenneth (Shelia)
A host of nieces and nephews and too many friends to count.
"Facial Mask/Coverings are required"
