Mother Sarah Elizabeth Roberts Shepherd's Obituary
Mother Sarah Elizabeth Roberts Shepherd was born on September 14, 1940, in Conyers, GA to the late Deacon Bob Roberts, Sr. and Mother Rosa Lee Roberts. She was one of 13 children born to this union. She received her Heavenly wings Monday, June 13, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. In addition to her parents and grandparents, she was preceded in death by ten siblings: brothers, A. B. Roberts, Ross T. Roberts, Bob Roberts, Jr., and Icel F. Roberts; and sisters, Sina Mae Roberts, Hazel Lee Brookin, Martha Jane Glover, Minnie
Queen Roberts, Nellie Ann Roberts, and baby, Clementy Roberts.
Sarah joined Macedonia Baptist Church in Conyers, GA at a very early age. Throughout the years she served on the Mother's Board, Usher's Board, and Pastors Aide Ministry. She loved Macedonia, as her parents and family shared so many strong roots into the church. She graduated from J.P. Carr High School. She worked at Lithonia Lighting for 26 years before retiring to enjoy her large and ever-growing family.
Sarah married Mr. Billy Shepherd on November 19, 1961. Together they were blessed with five children, Comostrisha Fallen, Alfred Shepherd (Brenda), Benita Redmon, Dexter Shepherd, and Arona Shepherd. As her family continued to grow, she was additionally blessed with thirteen grandchildren, Anrecus Fallen, Cortney Fallen, Erica Fallen, Takita Bell, Alexia Shepherd, Xavier Shepherd, Limarris Redmon, Jametrius Redmon, Liyah Shepherd, Detoya Shepherd, Trenton Redmon, Antrize Shepherd, and Eytiphia Johnson. Mother Shepherd has thirty-six great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She also has left to cherish wonderful memories: two sisters, Ms. Betty Hullum and Mother Rosetta Mitchell; her sister/niece, Mother Hattie R. Moore (Joseph, Sr.); brother-in-law, John E. Shepherd; sister-in-law, Lucy Kate English (Harvey); a multitude of nieces & nephews, great nieces & nephews, cousins, other extended family and many dear friends.
Our mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother is now resting in Heaven and we are truly blessed to have been a part of her long, loving and wonderful life. She will never, ever be forgotten.
