Affectionately known as "Granny" or "Great-Granny" to many, Mercedes Lane Rossetti transitioned on January 1, 2025, at the ageof 97. Born in Harlem, New York, to Margaret and Herbert Lane, Mercedes lived a life full of creativity, resilience, and love. She worked as aseamstress in New York's Fashion District, as a keypunch operator at IBM, and later as a nurse's aide at Steere House in Providence,Rhode Island, until her retirement. Mercedes is survived by her siblings, Josie (Nate) Kelger and Gilbert Lane of New York; her daughters, Michele Jennings of Providence, RI, and Karen (Bobby) Hall of Conyers, GA; and her grandchildren: Sheila, Antoine, and Felicia of Providence, RI, and Cherell, Robyn (Nathan), and Jennifer (Sam) of Georgia. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Skylah, Clarissa, Kamiris, Jashon, Aneeah, of Rhode Island, as well as Mercedes, Celeste, and Elijah of Georgia. She was preceded in death by her husband; Nicola Rossetti; parents, Margaret and Herbert; her siblings, Jackie, Lois, Herbert Jr., Roy, and Lester; her grandson, Jarrett; and many cherished friends and loved ones. Mercedes' passion for creativity was evident throughout her life. She was avid seamstress who lovingly crafted clothing for her daughters. An accomplished knitter and crocheter, she created blankets, sweaters, scarves, hats, and socks for familyand friends, gifts that will continue to provide warmth and comfort. During her retirement, Mercedes was an active member of the Rockdale County Senior Citizens Center, where she enjoyed making ceramics and socializing with her community. Mercedes shared a special bond with her son-in-law, Bobby Hall, who was her primary caretaker during the final years of her life. Her family deeply appreciateshis unwavering care and devotion. Above all, Mercedes cherished her family. She was a source of unconditional love and wisdom, and her presence will be missed by all who knew her. Rest well, Mercedes Lane Rossetti. You have left an indelible mark on the hearts ofmany.
