Melissa Ann Cephus' Obituary
Melissa Ann (Zachary) Cephus was born August 30, 1968, to the late Mr. Gary Donnell Zachary and Ms. Dessa Gibson Zachary in Rockdale County. Melissa, affectionately known as Lisa, was a healthy 8lb 9oz rambunctious little girl full of mischief and mystery.
At an early age, Lisa joined the Summer Hill Baptist Church. She was a member of the Jr Choir; and was discovered to be a true songbird. During her teenage years, Lisa sang with, and directed, a number of choirs in the Metro Atlanta area. She could pull a song out of anyone. In her teen years, Lisa worked at Holiday Inn of Conyers and Westbury Nursing Home. Upon graduating from Rockdale County High School in 1987, she was employed as Cosmetologist for several years. Lisa was also employed by Delta Airlines and The Retreat of Conyers. She entered into matrimony to Mr. Mark A. Cephus in May 2008.
Lisa was preceded in death by her great grandmother, Ms. Mattie Lou Gibson; grandfather, Mr. William S. Gibson; grandmother, Mrs. Lucy M. Gibson; two aunts, Mrs. Irene R. Gibson and Ms. Regina A. Gibson; and a brother, Gary Donnell Zachary Jr.
Lisa Cephus departed her earthly life Saturday afternoon on July 3, 2021 to live with her Heavenly Father.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories spouse, Mr. Mark A Cephus; loving mother, Ms. Dessa Zachary a stepdaughter, Miss Briana Cephus; father-in-law, Mr. Leroy Cephus Sr; brother, Mr. James U. Binns Jr; two sisters, Ms. Connswellia D. Binns and Mrs. Tameka Zachary; four sister-in-law's, Ms. Jean Cephus, Ms. Jacqueline Causey, Ms. Felicia Cephus, and Mrs. Stephanie (Donyel) Williams; two brother-in-laws, Mr. Leroy Cephus Jr and Mr. Tony (Bessie) Cephus; three uncles, Mr. William E. Gibson, Mr. Willie G. (Ethel) Gibson, and Mr. Alvin N. (Marcella) Gibson; aunt, Ms. C. Lyn Gibson and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Special friends, Ms. Daphne Bailey, Ms. Mechelle Hudson and Ms. Tonja Stewart
