Mattie Lavada West's Obituary
Mattie Lavada West "Dobug" was born on January 11, 1939 to the late Willie Blalock and late Brownie Smith in Covington, Georgia. She was a member of First Shady Grove Baptist Church, where she served until her health declined. Mattie was a people person, nothing brightens her day more than to have visitors who she could talk to and share all her childhood memories with. Everyone who encountered her knew that she was a kind soul who would give you anything she had. Dobug enjoyed watching western on tv all day long, but most of all Mattie loved her Family with everything inside of her.
On September 14, 2019 Mattie was called home to be with the Lord. Mattie was preceded in death by; her father, Willie Blalock; mother, Brownie Smith; Husband, Mr. John West Jr.; son, Toney Blalock; sister, Sarah Florence Thomas (Willie James); sister in law, Lucy Mae(Arthur)Williams, and Johnnie Mae(Rufus)Giles.
Mattie leaves to cherish her precious memories her three daughters Loretta Blalock(Milous), Benita West, and Sherry West(Larry), daughter in law Donna(Toney)Blalock, sister in law Carolyn(Ralph) Johnson, brother in law Harvey West, two special cousins Charlie Mae Ponder and Lizzie Ruth Smith, a special friend Oscar Giles, 16 Grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 9 great-greatgrandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
