Mary Ann Bailey's Obituary
Mary Ann Bailey daughter of the late Willie Daniel and Katie Bell Carr-Elliott was born on June 25, 1935 in Conyers, Georgia. She was the second of nine born to the family. Six siblings preceded her in death: Jacqueline Elliott, Wallace Elliott, Willie Daniel Elliott, Jr., Peggy Elliott Doanes, Annette Elliott Simon and Isiah Elliott. Mary de-parted this life Monday, April 25, 2016. Mary received her formal education from John Phillip Carr School System in Conyers, Georgia. Mary's work history included over 30 plus years at First United Methodist Church until her failing health. Mary joined Rock Temple A.M.E. in Conyers, Georgia at an early age where she faithfully served as a life-long member. She enjoyed singing in the church choir, serving on the usher board, testifying before God and serving the community. Although residing at Westbury for many of her later years of life her spirit, joy and smile never wavered. While in her presence she was sure to make you laugh endlessly and assure she was alright. Mary was married to John. H. Bailey (Ned), who preceded her in death. To this union, three children were born: Lois Maddox, John Bailey, and Celestine Bailey. Together they raised six children. Mary was preceded in death by her baby girl Celestine. Mary leaves to honor her heritage: two daughters, Mr. & Mrs. Tom Swift (Charaletta) and Lois Maddox; three sons, Kermit Elliott (Stan), Dexter Elliott (Deck), John Bailey (BoBo); sister, Eardell Porter; brother Calvin "Jack" Elliott; sisters-in law, Shirley Ann Elliott, and Addie M. Elliott; and brother-in-law, Elijah Simon. She leaves to celebrate her legacy fifteen grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren; special cousin, Frances Bates, special friend and roommate Annette Chupp
