Johnnie Mae Giles' Obituary
Johnnie Mae Giles "Big Ma", daughter of the late John and Lizzy Mae West was born April 27,1940 in Morgan County, Georgia. She was proceeded in death by her mother and father, husband Mr. Rufus Giles, son Bobby Roulhac, two brothers John and Lewis West, Sister Lucy Mae Williams, two grandchildren Tony and Melissa Roulhac, and one great-grandchild Destiny Benton. God called Mrs. Johnnie Mae to her heavenly home on November 12, 2018 at the Douglasville Nursing Home.
Johnnie Mae accepted Christ at an early age joining Springfield Baptist Church, and later moved her membership to Shady Grove Baptist. She was a faithful member of the church having served on the Mother Board, Usher Board, President of the Choir, and with a passion and dedication served others at the food pantry until her health failed.
Johnnie Mae attended Bryant Street School and retired from the Rockdale County Board of Education after over 30 years of service. In 1964, she married the love of her life Mr. Rufus Giles. Her memory will be cherished her nine children: Robert (Linda Faye) Roulhac, Rev. Michael (Cheryl) Roulhac, Yolando (Betty Ann) Giles, Vincent (Sylvia) Giles, Carolyn (Glenn) Matthews, Rufus (Wanda) Giles, Mark (Kelly) Giles, and Diane (Lamar) Gilstrap, daughter -n- law Teresa Roulhac, 33 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, 12 great great-grandchildren, 1 sister Carolyn (Ralph) Johnson, 1 brother Harvey West, 3 sister -n- laws and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Johnnie Mae will continually be remembered for her beautiful spirit, and the everlasting love she gave to all around her. She touched the lives of many people with her warm heart and generosity until the end.
