Jerry Ellis' Obituary
Jerry Ellis, Sr. 74 passed away with his wife by his side on June 3, 2021. Jerry was born on March 18, 1947 to the Late Elizabeth Strothers and the Late Louis Ellis.
Jerry resided in Providence, Rhode Island for most of his life before moving to Conyers, Georgia with his wife of 20 years, Holly Ellis. Jerry had many strengths in his lifetime. First and foremost was God. He loved the Lord. Jerry doted on his children at every chance he could and always wanted them to stay in touch with each other and him. He enjoyed singing and could be heard singing one of his favorite tunes. His favorites were oldies but goodies. He enjoyed being witty and cracking jokes with his family and friends.
All those that knew and loved him, he was known as the "Chicken King." Jerry loved chicken, a trait that he passed down to his kids as well as juju fruits, twizzlers, banana popsicles, pickles and scratch tickets. Another passion of his was his love of cars. He always rode in the best vehicles. His favorite cars were the Lincoln Town car and Cadillacs. Jerry had a love of clothes and fashion; always decked out in his Sunday best, whether going out for the evening or going to the grocery store, always with his wife by his side. His family and friends have many many memories of talking, laughing and having a good time with Jerry over the years. He will be sorely missed.
Those who are left to cherish his memories are his beloved wife, Holly Ellis; eight children, Jerry Ellis, Jr. (Hiram, Ga.), Mark Ellis (Cranston, R.I.), Brooke Shannan Ellis (San Diego. Ca.), Raymond Ellis (San Diego, Ca.), Amy Matthews (Brooklyn, N.Y.), Corey Smith (Cranston, R.I.), Jonathan Smith (Pawtucket, R.I.), Jeffrey Smith (Providence, R. I.); three step children, Miosha Smith (Providence R.I.), Christopher Smith (Providence, R.I.) and Marc Lewis (Conyers, Ga.). He also leaves 26 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren, 2 brothers, Carlton Gardner (Providence R. I.) Raymond Ellis (Toccoa, Ga) and one sister, Tina Almeida (Pawtucket, R. I.) as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Gardner. Although Jerry is no longer with us, his light will forever shine on through those who loved him.
