James Demetrius Carter's Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of James Demetrius Carter also known as Big Boi announces his passing after suffering from a heart attack on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at the age of 42 years.
James was born in Atlanta, Georgia to his loving parents, Jesse James Carter and Betty Jean Carter. Known for his creativity and outgoing personality, James never met a stranger that didn't instantly become a friend. He was a 1994 graduate of Rockdale County High School. He was no stranger to hard work, and he started working at the tender age of 16 years. He may have kept some of you laughing throughout the workout day at Rockdale Hospital, Wal-Mart/Sam's Club, or Dekalb County Fleet Services (5 years of service). Also known for his impeccable sense of style, James was a fashion forward trendsetter who stayed draped in the finest Polo and Ralph Lauren garments. James was a beacon of light to us all. We will never forget that infectious laugh or that Colgate smile. James marked our hearts with joy, and he taught us all how to find a reason to smile no matter the circumstances.
James will be lovingly remembered by his best friend of 14 years and the mother of his child, Jericah Letrice Carter, and their precious daughter, Destiny Laniya Carter. James will also be forever remembered by his mother (Betty Carter), father (Jesse Carter), step-father (Earnest "E" Draine), sister (Jessica Reid), nieces (Ariana Reid and Quiana Willis), nephew (Joshua Willis), and a host of extended family and dear friends.
