James Usher Binns' Obituary
The sun rose on JAMES USHER BINNS SR on November 10, 1942 in Warrenton, Georgia. He is the son of Golden Binns and Rosie Lee Lynn, both of whom preceded him in death. The sun set on
JAMES resided in Atlanta, Georgia's North Avenue community, where he was affectionately known as Big Man or just Ben." He was employed at Atlanta Housing Authority for a number of years, where he met Mr. William S. Gibson (deceased) who introduced him to his daughter, Ms Dessa Zachary, a very dear friend and mother of his son. His greatest pastimes consisted of fishing, playing cards, playing dominoes, and playing gospel songs on his guitar. JAMES played lead and bass, while his brothers and sisters sang to the glory of God. He had a great singing voice as well! JAMES was a true friend and refuge to all who entered his doorway.
JAMES' favorite words during a storm were "I hear you ole Master". He heard and answered the masters call early Friday morning, May 25, 2018 at Grady Memorial Hospital in the ICU.
JAMES U. BINNS SR was a member of a large family. He was preceding in death by brothers: Willie C. Binns, Henry Lee Binns, and Johnny B. Binns, and sisters: Dorothy B. Lucas, Eula Sanders, and Mary Binns.
He also had one child who proceeded him in death, Brenette Binns and a beloved godson, Gary D. (Bubba) Zachary, Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memory: three children, Tracy Binns, Connswellia D. Binns and James Usher Binns, Jr.; three sisters, Minnie Pearl (Robert) Lyons , Rosie (Joseph) Smith, and Martha Lumpford; a brother, Robert Lee Binns; three grandchildren, Dexter A. Gunn, Montavius Tigner, and Sanchez Binns; two great grand-children, Maliyah Tigner, Jamarium Mobley, and Sanai Binns; a god daughter, whom he loved dearly, Melissa A. (Lisa) Cephus; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends!
