Hortense Valentine Brown's Obituary
Hortense Valentine Brown was born on November 3, 1944 in Clarendon, Jamaica W.I.
Hortense is survived by her cherished husband Oliver Brown, eight children and their wives - Roderick (Clara) Williams, Peter (Johanna) Brown, Robert Brown, Kirk (Shanay) Brown, Brenton (Kareen) Brown, Vannette "Nikki" Brown, Chrisann Brown, and Franklin Brown, her sister Gloria and her husband Edwin "Eddy" Coward, 27 grandchildren and two great grandchildren - as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
Hortense married Oliver Brown November 27, 1966. Together they raised their children in a noisy household full of love. The sound of her laughter filled the home and that is what the family miss the most. She had that kind of laugh we all love to hear.
On September 1, 1992 Hortense arrived in the United States and opened the door for the rest of her family to join her in America. She lived in Miami for some time and eventually moved to Georgia setting permanent residence outside of Atlanta.
Hortense had known about Jehovah for many years prior to coming to America. But it was here in Atlanta where she found the time to deeply search into the word of God. The closer she drew to God the more real His presence manifested itself in her life. Hortense was baptized on March 27, 2004. Her love and reliance on Jehovah God infused her with " power beyond what is normal" (2 Corinthians 4:7) so that she maintained her joy in serving her Creator, even as her health was failing. She stood firm for her beliefs and kept her integrity to God intact.
Hortense died July 11, 2018, having full assurance in the resurrection hope as noted at Job14:13-15: "...You will call, and I will answer you. You will long for the work of your hands." Hortense now is at rest in the safest place a person could be - Jehovah's memory. To the end of her life, Hortense displayed complete trust and confidence in Jehovah's promise for the future.
