Horacious Penn's Obituary
Deacon Horacious Penn (Uncle Lurch, Mr. Sonny, Uncle Sonny and Santa Claus) was born to the late George and Novella Penn on December 5, 1950 in Newton County.
Horacious attended the Rockdale County School System. He joined the United States Army and served in the Korean War. He was Honorably discharged in 1971.
Horacious has worked many jobs, he loved to work. His jobs included City of Conyers, Construction and his present job at Hill Phoenix.
Horacious married Diane Baker in 1998, where he also gained two stepchildren who gave him his greatest joy seven grandchildren who loved to listen to his famous stories.
Horacious was a member of Bald Rock Baptist Church where he had many titles. He was first to arrive and last to leave. He loved his church family.
Horacious leaves to cherish his memories, a loving wife, Diane; two stepchildren Felix Hopkins (Kim) of California and Santana Baker of Covington. His seven grandchildren; Tanner, Anthony, Reigann, Makalia, Maleake, Adrian and Bella. Six sisters: Queenie Rucker, Mary Hayes, Rozetta Garlington, Marie Hill, Betty Penn, Patricia Bailey and three brothers; James Penn, Johnny Penn, and Kenneth Penn, one sister-in-law, Mary Baker and four brother-in-law; Ricky Bailey, Douglas Baker, Ralph Baker and Calvin Baker and one uncle, John H. Penn and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
