Hazel Dean Brooks-Guest's Obituary
Hazel Dean Brooks Guest was born February 29, 1952, one of eight children, to Thurmon and Ruby Robertson Brooks in Boiling Springs, North Carolina. She accepted Christ at an early age in Shelby, North Carolina. In recent years, Ms. Guest regularly attended Church of Life, Atlanta, Georgia, under the leadership of Pastor Betty Cooper. As a young, vibrant woman, Ms. Guest married Bryant Roosevelt Guest and bore three, wonderful children. In later years, Ms. Guest married Thomas Craig and was blessed with one more beautiful child. Ms. Guest was an excellent cook, had an infectious laugh, and loved to be surrounded by family and friends. Ms. Guest worked faithfully as plant manufacturer until she suffered a career-ending injury. However, Ms. Guest continued to provide service as a caretaker for her family and friends until her demise. Ms. Guest died peacefully, in her sleep, May 7, 2017, at Grady Memorial Hospital, Atlanta, Georgia. Ms. Guest was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters-in-law; Arvel (Mable) Brooks William Brooks, and Hazel Brooks; husband, Thomas Craig. Ms. Guest leaves to treasure her memory four children: Bryant Jr. (Teresa) Guest, Anthony (Dr. Delleni) Guest, Stacey (Cory) Degree, and Elizabeth Vaughn; brothers Johnny (Eunice) Brooks and Hollis Brooks; sisters Arneitha Brooks, Loreen (Alex) Brooks, and Oretha Gidney; sister-in-law Mamie Brooks; Bryant Roosevelt Guest, Sr.; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
