Harriette Ella Henderson's Obituary
Harriette Ella Henderson (Brown), of Johns Creek, GA made her heavenly transition on March 4, 2022. She was born on March 31st, 1935, in Fayetteville, Tennessee to Felix and Ida Birdie Brown, and was the youngest of 14 children.
Harriette was educated at West End High School in Fayetteville, Tenn., and Chattanooga City College in Chattanooga, Tennessee from which she graduated in 1955. She later trained under the McDowell County, WV Council of the Southern Mountains and McDowell County Public Schools where she eventually sat on the Board, as well as the Berea College in Berea, KY. For many years Harriette taught and was a consultant for a number of Headstart Programs, Preschools and Child Development Centers. Before leaving West Virginia, she was proud to have been elected to the Board of Directors of the Children's Museum and Planetarium. When the family moved from West Virginia to the Washington, DC. area, Harriette transitioned her career path into the Banking Industry where she quickly advanced from administrative positions to Assistant Branch Manager. In her management role, Harriette provided banking services to many high-profile clients that ranged from the entertainment and fashion industry to corporate executives and politicians. She enjoyed her work until she retired to focus on her family.
Despite having an accomplished career in the professional world, what motivated Harriette the most was her family. She was a committed wife to her husband of almost 64 years, Rev. Hal T. Henderson Sr. They met in May of 1955 and married just a few months later in July of the same year. Their short courtship was a testament to how she loved life and lived it with grace and on her own terms. She enjoyed her role as the "First Lady" of his many churches and was known for her sophisticated style and the hats, she wore almost every Sunday. She was a dedicated mother to her children and never missed an opportunity to "brag" about the things they were involved in. Her children's happiness was always very important to her.
Harriette is survived by her eldest son, Kevin LeBron, her eldest daughter, Tjwanna Michelle, her youngest daughter, La Tosca Babette and her youngest son, Hal Thomas Jr. She leaves 1 son-in-law, 2 daughters-in-law, 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 1 brother-in-law, James, and a host of extended family, friends, and people whose lives she touched. She is predeceased by her Husband, Rev. Hal Thomas Henderson, Sr. (2019), and her sons Thomas Castodaro (1996) and Aundrea Michel (1958)
