Garie Ponder's Obituary
Garie Ponder was a man that had many titles, from a devoted husband to a loving daddy, and an awesome grand daddy to all ten of his grandkids, to a man that wouldn't hesitate to help anyone in need, and also had time to share the gospel whether you wanted to hear it or not.
Garie was a hard working man who never complained, stayed in peak physical shape running multiple miles every morning no matter if it was hot or cold. He had an imposing figure, his presence demanding respect and attention, when he talked you listened, and he never took sides, staying unbiased choosing the side that was right.
The Lord's prayer is ingrained in the memory of all of his children as he prayed it every sunday for bible study. He loved Jesus and called him his big brother and he's living in paradise with him now watching over his family guiding them, knowing they'll do what and use what he taught them.
He is survived by his four brothers and sisters, and his loving wife, Johnnie Bell Ponder. He leaves behind eight children; Shereeta Ponder, Joshua Ponder, Timothy Ponder, Jason Ponder, Maurice Ponder, Allison Ponder, Joans Ponder and Andrew Ponder, and their children.
Garie may not be with us physically but the legacy he made will never be matched by anyone else. With all the lives he touched and changed, he will never be forgotten. He will always be looking down on his family making sure they do the right thing.
Rest in heaven young man, you raised a great family and left a mark on the whole Earth.
John 14:1, was his favorite scripture. Let not your heart be troubled; ye believe in God, believe also in me.
