Gail Alexandra Galloway's Obituary
Gail Alexandria Galloway was born on March 30th to the parents of Edward "Cleanhead" Vinson, Jr. and Ira Farmer in 1948. Gail was raised in Brooklyn, New York, attended Our Lady of Victory Catholic School and George Wingate High School. In her youth Gail enjoyed spending time exploring New York City, dancing and socializing with neighborhood friends and performing with her first cousins, who thought they were "Superstars."
On June 5, 1967, Gail gave birth to her beautiful daughter Tonya N. Daughtry. On July 12, 1969, Gail gave birth to her first son, Brian K. Daughtry; her family grew larger with the birth of Robert ``Nunnie" R. Daughtry on July 11, 1971.
Gail began her work career at Theater Development Fund (TDF), where she graciously shared her love of Broadway shows with her family and friends. Many have had the opportunity to experience Broadway in some way or another thanks to her. Gail later began working at Ramada Plaza, JFK Airport where Gail loved to meet new people from around the world and tell them about the city she loved so much. Throughout her life Gail especially loved traveling, and often packed her bags months in advance as Gail was always ready for the next adventure.
After retirement, Gail relocated to Conyers, GA where her time was devoted to her family and more friends than you could count. Gail enjoyed spending time at the Olivia Haydel Senior Center. Gail also became a member of the Sophisticated Red Hatters at Turner Lake, Newton County, Georgia where many new friendships were established, Gail especially enjoyed setting up and attending the "Tea Parties" as well as hosting several parties/events, participating in games and traveling to larger RHS conventions.
Gail is most remembered as being the "LIFE" of every party, she was normally the first one on the dance floor, laughing, smiling and urging others to join her. As she celebrated LIFE and all it had to offer.
Gail is survived by her children Tonya N. Daughtry, Brian K. Daughtry, Robert R. Daughtry and (wife) Erica. Her cherished 14 grandchildren Anthony, Shanaja, Brittany, Justin, Wesley, Lexus, Davon, Kai, Brianna, Nia, Laila, Brian Jr., Tristan, and Jaden, and her 5 great-grandchildren Mekhi C., Cali, Mehki V., Stori and Skyla. In addition to her children and grandchildren Gail is survived by her siblings June, Nathaniel Jr. and (wife) Leslie, Warren, David and (wife) Gaile, James "Jay", Joyce, Francince, Judy, Paula, and Crystal. Gail leaves behind a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, and close friends who were considered family as well. Gail maintained a close bond with Dorenda "Missy" Diggs and Sloan Daughtry-Pyle.
Gail is predeceased by her parents Ira and Eddie, 2nd Mother Pauline Smith, husband(s) Arnold R. Daughtry and Milton Galloway and grandson Damien.
Gail will live in our hearts and memories forever.
