Frank Wallace Vereen's Obituary
Frank Wallace Vereen, dedicated husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away with his family by his side in Covington, Ga. on Thursday, September 22, 2022. Frank was born on December 17, 1945, in Belle Glade, Florida to Esther Mae Vereen and Willie B. Brown. He worked for General Electric in Plainville, Connecticut for 25 years and was a Vietnam Veteran with medals for sharpshooter (Rifle M-14), Vietnam Campaign Medal, 1 0/S Bar, National Defense Service Medal and Vietnam Service Medal.
On October 18, 1969, he married the love of his life, Shirley Meldrum (Vereen) and together raised two daughters and remained together until his last breath.
Frank was a huge sports fan and spent most of his time attending sporting events for his grandsons or watching football, basketball, baseball or MMA. He loved sports and was extremely knowledgeable about all of these sports. He also loved vacationing in Florida with his family and just hanging out. He was known for his gentle demeanor as well as having a compassionate spirit.
Frank was preceded in death by both of his parents. He is survived by his wife and best friend Shirley Vereen; two daughters, Rhonda Vereen-Hamer (Michael) and Dawn Vereen (Brian); three grandsons, Baron Brown, (Cape Town Africa), Kyre Hamer, (Covington, Ga), Christian Hall (Covington, Ga.); two great grandchildren, Karter Daisy-Rei Hamer (Louisville, Ky.) and Kade Orlando Hamer (Louisville, Ky.) He also loved his niece whom he called, his "other daughter", Glenda Stinson (Eddie), and a son., Jason Simon that was adopted by him and his family after he took great care of him until the end; sister, Tamika Carter (Norfolk, Va.) and aunt, uncles, several brothers/sisters in laws, cousins and friends.
Frank fought an amazing fight with End Stage Renal Failure and survived dialysis for 30 years with the help of his Davita Dialysis Clinic. He was treated well at his home clinics and other clinics he traveled to. He will be greatly missed.
The family asks that flowers not be sent, but donations be made in honor of Frank Wallace Vereen to the National Kidney Foundation. There will be no viewing, but all are invited to the military honors burial at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton Georgia on Friday, September 30, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. SHARP.
