Evon Marjorie Williams' Obituary
Evon Marjorie Williams aged 76, of St. Ann Jamaica, was born on May 15, 1947 to Inez Morris and Aaron Smith. She was formerly married to Mr. Wesley Williams from Manchester, Jamaica who is now deceased. She was called home to be with the Lord on May 24, 2023. Evon, the most devoted mother and grandmother, is survived by her daughter Tavia Carr, son Jermaine Williams, Daughter-in-Law Erika, 8 grandchildren Chanell, Chase, Catie, Cailee, Joshua, Jazmine, Juliana, Jaylah, sisters Jennifer and Patricia, brother-n-law Victor, 4 nieces Suzanne, Charlene, Glenda and Jessica, 2 grandnephews and 1 grandniece, as well as close family and friends.
An avid learner, Evon graduated from Grantham College, Bellview School of Nursing, St. Helena Sanitorium and the St. Johns Ambulance Brigade in Kingston Jamaica and received multiple academic awards throughout her studies. She spent the next 26 years in selfless service taking care of the sick at various hospital to included the Children's Hospital, St. Josephs Hospital and the Kingston Public Hospital where she was loved by all her patients due to her kind, gentle nature. She also received multiple awards for her outstanding work at these hospitals.
Evon migrated from Jamaica to the U.S. with her two children and while faithfully supporting them, she completed her LPN Studies through Catholic University, Washington DC. and earned her LPN license. She went on to tirelessly continue her outstanding work for the next 18 years mostly at the We Care Nursing Home in Washington, DC as Head Nurse. She gave 100% in all aspects of her life, work, or home and positively impacted the lives of all who came to know her. As a result, she received numerous awards for her outstanding work and was frequently selected for special trips with her clients to destinations like Walt Disney World.
A devoted Christian, she dearly loved the Lord and placed him at the forefront of all she did. Even in her deepest pain, she found the time to pray and praise the Lord. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, movies, watching her favorite gospel services, watching the news and talking with family. Her ability to sacrifice, support, forgive and love selflessly is forever engrained in the hearts of her loved ones and her passing left a gap that can never be filled.
Celebration of Life Services for Evon Marjorie Williams will be held on Friday, June 2, 2023 at 11AM. These services will be recorded and streamed live.
