Eulalia Francis Flournoy Douglas' Obituary
Eulalia Francis Flournoy Douglas was born the fourth of nine children to the late Sonny Lee Flournoy and Indiana Davis Flournoy in Quitman, TX. Mother Douglas loved church and served diligently in various departments. Her first church membership was at Muddy Creek Church which was founded by her grandfather, Rev. Burl Flournoy.
During Mother Douglas's time, high school consisted of grades eight through eleven. Mother Douglas moved to Shreveport; LA after being promoted to the tenth grade. She didn't live near the only high school for Blacks in the parish. Therefore, she worked and went to night school and earned her high school diploma. During this time period, Mother Douglas met and married Mr. Rubell Francis. This union produced five children. Mother Douglas later moved with her husband and children closer to the Shreveport branch of Southern University where she attended college. Mother Douglas was a diligent worker who served as a social worker and mail carrier. She retired from the Department of the Army as a civil servant. Years later after her husband's death, she met and married Mr. Fred Douglas. Mother Douglas was a strong faithful Christian woman who overcame social injustice to leave a legacy of high educational expectations and dedication to Christ.
Mother Douglas was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, eight sisters and brothers, and three children: son (Bobby Francis), daughter (Brenda Graham), and daughter (Beverly Bell). Mother Douglas leaves to cherish her precious memories to two daughters (Betty Morris) and ( Ruby Robinson); seven grandchildren Erick Graham(LeShon), Rhonda Walker (Grayland, Sr.), Derrick Moore, Bethany Knighten (Gaynor, Sr.), Wesley Morris, James Moore, Jr., Ruben Morris (Jonta); seven great-grandchildren Monique Street (Terrance), Michael Washington-Moore, Devon Moore, Gaynor, Jr. (Rebeca), Julia, Joycelyn, Chase, Carson, Hamilton, and Pierson; and three great-great grandchildren Noelle, Nolen, and Giannis; and a host of favorite nieces and nephews.
