Ela Mae Macon's Obituary
Ela Mae Macon was born August 10, 1944, in Columbus, MS to Harry Macon (deceased) and Clara Bell Hairston. Ela accepted Christ as her personal savior and was baptized at a very young age. In 1960, she had one son, Gregory J. Macon and in 1986, a grandson, Andreus L. Hester.
Ela attended Crane Junior College in Chicago, IL South Dekalb College in Decatur, GA, and received a Nursing Certificate in 1970 from Atlanta Area Technical School in Atlanta, GA. She began working at St. Joseph's Hospital in Atlanta, GA and later retired in 2006. Ela was a beautiful, sophisticated, fashionable classy, artistic chic lady. She had many hobbies which included creating beautiful arts & crafts and watching sports. She was told often that she had missed her calling of being a home interior decorator and being a sports commentator.
God decided it was time for Ela to come home where there are no tears, pain, suffering, or sorrow and she transitioned peacefully in her sleep on June 7,2022 at Piedmont Newton Hospital in Covington, GA.
Ela leaves to cherish her memory to her surviving relatives, Mother Clara B. Hairston, Brothers William E. Anthony, Flossmoor, IL, Eric Macon, Bellwood, IL, Leonard (Annie) Macon, Campbellsville, KY, Melvin (Angie) Macon, Grand Rapids, MI; Sisters Diane (William) Nash, Conyers, GA, Cynthia Macon Thornton, Grand Rapids, MI; Son Gregory J. Macon, Tuscaloosa, AL, and Grandson Andreus L. Hester, Covington, GA; Very close cousins Bessie Armistead, Dessie Moss, Helen White, beloved friends, Linda Jones, Deloris Williams, and a host of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her Father Harry Macon, Brothers Harry Macon Jr., Lionel Macon, Sisters Jeanette Hunt, and Vanessa Macon.
