Donnie Jerome Giles' Obituary
The Sun shined brightly on April 21, 1958 to Pete & Margaret Giles, the day their son Donnie Jerome Giles was born. He grew to be a very outspoken man. He had a unique Personality. Donnie graduated from Rockdale High School in 1977. He enjoyed all forms of sports. Donnie loved watching Western movies from Gunsmoke to Rifle Man. He also loved SWEETS. It wasn't unusual to find his SWEETS hidden in his secret places. He loved to cook and one of His specialties was collard greens. He loved family. Papa Donnie had a special bond with his grandchildrens. They were the only one he would share his sweets with. He was employed with Goodyear until his health began to fail.
Throughout Donnie's life he walked by faith. He trusted Christ, accepting Him as his Savior. He was a member of WCJ Outreach Ministries. He participated in feed the hungry events, back to school Rally, Senior Toiletries and Prayer Power in the Park. Donnie was a member of Great Faith Christian Center. He was Baptized by his wife Pastor Ethel Michelle Giles.
The Sunset on Wednesday April 10, 2019 at Emory University Hospital. It can truly be said that Donnie as it reads in 2 timothy 4:7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Preceeded in death his parents Pete & Margaret Giles and his brother Ronnie Giles.
He leaves to cherish his Memories: His loving devoted wife, Ethel Michelle Giles. 3 children: Keisha Sturgent, Keith Gaines, and Sierra Gaines, 11 Grandchildren, Achayla, Jasmine , Rah'Niyah, Jabrae, Jaboris, Iyana, Amare, Deshon Keith, Trent, Jayton, Teona, He had 3 additional kids that he raised as his own: Monica Denise Harris, Shametra Chanel Davis, Reginald O'Neal Davis, 10 grandchildren, 2 Great grandchildren, 3 Brothers: Terry (Bridgett) Giles, Fredrick Giles, Gregory Giles, One Special Aunt, he loved dearly Ocie Godfrey , 2 Uncles: Billy Smith, and Oscar Giles , Loving Mother In Law, Ermestine Brent, 1 Brother In law, Cornelious Brent, 3 Sister In Laws: Gretchen Jones, Josie Morris, Emma Beatha and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition He had cousins and friends that were Just like brothers & Sisters: Kurtis, Willie (Snap), James, Deborah, Brigett , Charlotte, Joann, Sandra, Pat, Carol, and Jessica.
