DIGERGRIO YEMEPHIAN CARTER's Obituary
In Loving Memory Digergrio Yemethian Carter, affectionately called "DC," was born on May 11, 1973, to the late Curtis and Linda Carter in Atlanta, Georgia. He was the first child in a sibling group of two children: Digergrio and Kenteaus.
Digergrio was educated in DeKalb County school system and graduated from Southwest DeKalb High School in 1991, earning a full-ride athletic scholarship to Savannah State University. In 1996, Digergrio enlisted in the United States Navy, completing four years and was honorably discharged. Shortly after, earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from DeVry University.
Digergrio worked as a Contract Specialist for 15 years at the Department of Treasury and later joined the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office, where he was known for his unwavering dedication to service. In addition to his professional and educational pursuits, he dedicated a considerable part of his life to coaching baseball at Rockdale County High School, Miller Grove High School as well as served as an assistant baseball coach at Clark Atlanta University under Head Coach and beloved brother, Kenteaus Carter.
While baseball was his passion, throughout his life's journey, he played softball for many years with the WeBallin team, known as one of the greatest teams played out of the Southeast Athletic Complex in DeKalb County. In between baseball seasons, he worked for the Georgia High School Association (GHSA), officiating high school football until he discovered health challenges.
Digergrio's unconditional love and selfless nature created a warm and nurturing home that will forever be a testament to the beautiful soul he was. He was called home on August 22, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Linda Carter.
Digergrio leaves behind a legacy of love, a beacon of kindness, and a source of inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing him. Digergrio is survived by his devoted wife, Felicia Carter; children, Quaterius Smith, Kierra Smith, Jordyn Hodge, and five grandchildren; brother, Kenteaus Carter; nephew, Mason Carter; Uncle, Charles (Ruthie) Jackson; Aunts, Carole Hopewell and Denise Carter McMeen, Godparents, Al and Jeannette Culbreath; God-brother, Kealin M. Culbreath, and a host of relatives, cousins, many dear friends, and a special cousin, Chevelle Carter.
A husband's love, a father's grace, and a void in our hearts that can never be filled, but we find solace in the memories that we hold near and dear to many of us.
