Dexter Lewis Holden's Obituary
Dexter Holden, born January 11, 1958, to the late Lucious Holden, Jr. and Mary Ruth Martin Holden. He was called home peacefully early Sunday morning. Dexter was educated in the public school system of Rockdale County. During his school years, he was an avid athlete at Rockdale High School as a member of the football and track teams. Dexter was affectionately called Iron Man by his friends. He is a 1976 graduate of Rockdale High School and a 1980 graduate of Paine College in Augusta, GA., where he also was a member of the track team.
Dexter believed in Christ and was baptized at an early age at James Paschal Baptist Church. He later joined New Beginning Full Gospel Ministries where he continued to be a member until his transition. Dexter worked for many years with car dealerships in the area and later Cheshire Inn until his retired after many years of service.
Dexter was very conscientious about his appearance and loved to make people laugh. He loved and was loved by many. Even when he was not at his best, he was concerned about uplifting others. He loved sports and attending sporting events. His most passionate hobby was washing and detailing cars.
Dexter was preceded in death by daughter Enya Senate, nephew Martin Humphrey, and sister Doris Holden.
He leaves to cherish his memories: Devoted daughter Pastor Syreeta Holden; sons, Cameron Holden, Pastor Deshawn Jones, Rafeal Farley and Rashad Wilson; two sisters Mary Moore (Gary) and Marlene Holden; one brother Mark Holden (Ranise); one Aunt Betty Gaither (Rev. Edward Gaither); 7 grandchildren, devoted nieces, great nieces, cousins, other relatives, and a host of friends.
