Deputy Steven Allen Minor's Obituary
Psalms 28:7
The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.
Steven Allen Minor began his life on February 24th, 1966 in Lawrenceville, Georgia. He was one of six children born to the late Evelyn Blackmon Minor and James Arthur Minor. His mother and father were both from Lithonia, Georgia. Steven and his siblings grew up in Lithonia, Georgia.
Steven spent his early years in Lithonia, Georgia, where he was loved, nurtured and given a Christian foundation. As a child, he attended New Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia, Georgia. Steven's parents also instilled the importance of completing his education, which led Steven to attend Shiloh Elementary School, Shiloh Middle School, and South Gwinnett High School. For additional training and certifications, Steven additionally pursued his secondary education at Columbus State University.
Learning the value of furthering his faith, Steven began his studies in seminary school. He attended several theological programs at Lutheran Rice Ministry School in Lithonia, Georgia, Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia, and Atlanta School of Biblical Studies in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1992, Steven completed his programs and became an Ordained Minister.
Steven began his career with the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office in July 2001 and served there for 18 years. He started as a Detention Deputy within the Jail Division. Over the years, Steven worked in other departments such as a Patrol Deputy, then worked in the Community Policing Division as a C.O.P.S. Deputy, and as his last assignment Steven worked as a School Resource Officer.
With all that Steven gave of himself to his family and work, he still made time to make an impact within the community, especially with youth. While working as a School Resources Officer, he became a youth mentor, sharing his time and knowledge to help shape the lives of the next generation. Steven never forgot a name or a face. He took it upon himself, at times, to address the children's needs to help them feel safe and not alone.
Steven served on the Ministry Protection Team at Springfield Baptist Church in Conyers, Georgia since 2012. He selflessly served every Sunday and became a member in 2019. To Steven, Springfield Baptist Church was a second family to him. Many at Springfield knew him, and knew they could depend on him. Steven never met a stranger and loved everyone there. Steven was also a part of the Security Ministry Team at the Redeeming Love Church in Conyers Georgia. He also served selflessly with providing security at many of their church gatherings and events. He was also well-loved by the Redeeming Love Church family.
Steven valued the importance of family. Steven has two children from his previous marriages, his daughters Ariel Minor of Snellville, Georgia, and Asia Michelle Minor of Conyers, Georgia. Steven has been married to his wife Veronica Thomas Minor since 1999. Steven adopted Veronica's daughter Shawanna Bolden of Nashville, Tennessee. Steven adoringly loved his family dearly. He always referred to Veronica as 'Babe' and his daughters as his 'Princesses'.
Steven Allen Minor made a peaceful transition from his earthly abode to his eternal home on Wednesday, June 24th, 2020.
Steve's life and legacy will affectionately be recalled by his loving and devoted wife Veronica; his loving daughters Ariel, Asia, and Shawanna; his grandchildren De'Marshae Travis, Tre'vion Travis, Jackie Daniels III; his brothers Stuart (Sonya) Minor, and James Bernard Minor (Deceased); his sisters Meryl Lester, Jane Deloris Minor, and Deborah Echols (Deceased); a host of adoring nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins, relatives and friends.
Steven Allen Minor will forever have a special place in our hearts as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend
