Clarence Edward Elston Sr.'s Obituary
Clarence Edward Elston Sr was born in Anniston, Alabama to the late Jesse and Alberta Elston. He is the youngest boy of eleven siblings, to which eight preceded him in death. At an early age, Clarence accepted Christ at Players Chapel CME Church.
After completing his education at Cobb Avenue High School in Anniston, Al, he moved to Memphis, TN where he further pursued his education at Tyler Barber College. While spending his time there, Clarence met and married his wife Laura Ann Williams. In December of 1963, Clarence enlisted into the United States Navy, where he served for twenty three and a half years. Later he would retire from NARF in San Diego, CA after seventeen years.
Clarence was a man of few words, with many smiles. He was a dedicated deacon of Church of God in Christ of the Apostolic Faith and Temple of Judah Apostolic Church in San Diego, Ca. He was a dedicated Mason of Most Worshipful Sons of Light in San Diego, Ca. and a Trustee, Usher and Choir Member at Rock Temple AME Church of Conyers, Ga. Clarence spent his later years enjoying his time with his family and close friends. He enjoyed fishing, watching westerns and completing projects around the house.
At the age of 77, Clarence was called home to join his mother Alberta Avery Elston, father Jesse Elston, five sisters and three brothers. He leaves behind his wife of 55 years Laura Ann (Williams) Elston of Conyers, GA. Two sisters, Mary Frances and Doris (David) Boyd of Anniston, AL. He leaves behind six children, Clarence (Elizabeth) Elston Jr. of Clio, MI, Erika Elston of Las Vegas, NV., Eric Elston of Conyers, GA., Shelton (Linda) Elston of San Diego, CA., Jesse (Melissa) Elston of Morrison, CO., Tamia (Michael) Mosley of Conyers, GA and guardian of Tyrese Williams of Conyers, GA., two Goddaughters Lisa (Derrick) Chaney of Houston, TX., and Tami (Tony) McDonald of Covington, GA. He also leaves behind twelve grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
