Chauncey Anthony Barner's Obituary
Chauncey Anthony Barner was born on November 12, 1957 in Brunswick County (Alberta), Virginia to the late Willie Lee Barner, Jr. and Elizabeth Coleman Barner. At an early age, he was baptized and joined Mercy Seat RZUA Church in Warfield, VA where he was a part of the Youth Church singing and praying. After relocating to the Atlanta Metro area, he was a member of Salem Bible Church, Atlanta, GA. In 2014, he joined Excel Church, Conyers, GA and served on Connection Ministries and Men's Group.
He graduated as President of the Class of 1976 from Brunswick Senior High School in Lawrenceville, Virginia. Upon graduating, he attended Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Virginia majoring in Electronics Engineering. He was a proud Alpha Psi Omega Fraternity member.
Chauncey was very creative and artistic with his ideas and hands. His favorite spare time was putting together classic model cars, customizing them, and adding them to his antique collection started as a child.
On December 26, 1981, he was joined in holy matrimony to Mary M. Clark in Danville, Virginia. On July 9, 1986, he became the proud father of his first son, Shawn Jermaine. Three years later, on July 21, 1989, he welcomed his second son, Ryan D'Anthony.
On March 28, 2010, he was joined in holy matrimony to Gwendolyn E. Culp at Salem Bible Church in Lithonia, GA.
For 18 years, Chauncey worked at Maxell until its shutdown in 2000. He was currently employed at DART Container Corporation in Conyers, GA until his health declined followed by his passing.
On October 1, 2019, Chauncey transitioned to his heavenly home at his home in Conyers, Georgia. He leaves to cherish his memories: a wife, Gwendolyn C. Barner of Warner Robbins, GA; two sons, Shawn Barner of Sandy Springs, GA and Ryan Barner of Marietta, GA; one daughter-in-law, Shenise Barner of Marietta, GA; a mother, Elizabeth Barner of Alberta, VA; one sister, Venita Acker of Woodbridge, VA; one brother-in-law, Antonio Acker of Woodbridge, VA; one aunt, Eunice Murphy of Buffalo, NY; mother of his sons, Mary C. Barner of Decatur, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, Excel Church Family, Dart Container Corporation Family, other relatives and friends.
