Betty Jean Scott's Obituary
Mrs. Betty Jean Scott was born on April 16, 1940 to the late Willie and Lizzie Kate Mitchell. She heard her heavenly father's call and departed this life on December 16, 2017. Betty attended Bryant Street School at an early age. She graduated from J.P. Carr High School in 1958. She united in holy matrimony to Walter Scott who preceded her in death. To this union, her son Felix (Sugarfoot) Scott was born. Betty attended Pleasant Hill CME Church where she served faithfully until her health began to decline. Betty was a strong, loving woman, a faithful, supportive mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt and true friend like no other. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, reading, doing puzzles and spending time with family and friends. Gone before her was her brother, Willie Henry Mitchell Jr. Remaining to honor her are her son Felix (Sugarfoot) Scott, brother Tommy (Connie) Mitchell, grandsons Imari (Rene') Scott, Ferris Smith, Travis Scott, her great grandsons Simari Scott and Taylen Scott, her great granddaughter Aniyah Smith, her nieces Michelle Mitchell, Yenkedia Mitchell, great nephew Tevious Wright, great niece Kira Smith, great-great nephew Braylon Wright, cousins Barbara Williams, Krystal Nelloms, Michael Harper, Sydney Nelloms, sisters in law Ruth Ingram and Addie Jo Walker, special friends Sadie Birt, Beverly Veal, Sadie Mitchell, Eardell Porter, Gloria Armstead, her caretakers Rebecca Dudley, Daphne Smith, Rene' (Ne Ne) Oglesby, Alex Kemp and Bruce Banks.
