Betty Morris' Obituary
Betty Joyce Francis Morris was born on April 14, 1948, in Shreveport, LA. She was the second of five children born to Mr. Rubell Francis and Mother Eulalia Douglas.
Betty graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Shreveport, LA at the tender age of fifteen. She received her bachelor's degree in education from Grambling State University and her Master of Arts Degree in Education from the University of Northern Colorado. She dedicated 46 years to a career in education, serving as a public-school teacher in Denver Public Schools, Dallas Independent School District, and Birmingham City Schools, where she was an accomplished special education and elementary school teacher.
Betty loved the Lord and committed her life to Christ at an early age and became a member of New Hope CME Church in Bossier City, LA. Throughout her life, she faithfully served as a Sunday School Superintendent in multiple churches, a Stewardess, and a choir member. Her deep faith and dedication to her community were evident in everything she did.
Betty leaves to cherish her memory her three children: Bethany Knighten (husband Gaynor Knighten), Wesley Morris (wife On'Draya Morris), and Ruben Morris (wife Jonta Morris). She was a proud grandmother to eight grandchildren: Gaynor Knighten Jr. (wife Rebeca Knighten), Julia Knighten, Joycelyn Knighten, Lei'Lani Townsend, Hamilton Morris, Pierson Morris, Paulina Green, and Maddox Morris; and a loving great-grandmother to Giannis Knighten and Adonis Knighten.
She is also survived by her baby sister and best friend Ruby Robinson, her nephews Erick Graham (wife Leshon Graham), Derrick Moore, James Moore, and her niece Rhonda Walker, her great nephews and great niece, Malachi, Isaiah, Michael, Devon, Carson, Chase and Monique (husband Terrence); great-great niece, Noelle, and one great great nephew, Nolan; along with a host of cousins and friends.
