Betty Grace Lett's Obituary
Betty Grace Lett was born on August 20, 1936, in Rutledge, GA to the late Cora Lee Lett and Henry Lee Lett. She was one of seven children to this union. Five siblings preceded her in death: Benjamin Lett, Willie Lee Lett, Lena Mae Lett, Eula Bell Banks, and Annie Elizabeth Cornwell.
Betty attended Bryant Street School in Conyers, GA and graduated from J.P. Carr High School in Conyers, GA. Betty became a member of Union Springs Baptist Church at the age of 13 under the leadership of Pastor Benjamin F. Lett. Betty served as the Usher Board president for several years and later served on the Mother's Board. While serving faithfully in these positions at her home church, she also taught Youth Sunday School classes at Macedonia Baptist Church in Conyers, Ga for several years.
Betty enjoyed spending quality time with her Parents, Siblings, and Aunts (Callie Randall, Lena Griffin and Effie Little). In her later years, her niece (Robin Banks Camp) spent valuable time with Betty, declaring "Betty is my Best Friend".
Betty was a puzzle and games enthusiast. She also enjoyed trying all different flavors and brands of ice cream. She loved to travel on short trips to Florida, Tennessee and North Carolina. Betty was employed by Bellsouth for over 25 years, where she was recognized with several awards. In her working years, she quietly became a "Car Buff", enjoying alternating buying Lincolns and Grand Marguis'. After retiring from Bellsouth, she began to work part time, doing promotions and sales.
Betty remained cancer free after being treated for breast cancer in 2012. Her faith in God gave her determination to endure this journey.
Betty leaves to cherish her memories, a loving sister, Juanita Lett, Nieces: Diane Cornwell, Carla Banks, Robin Banks Camp, Vanessa Lett, and Ajile Pressley. Nephew: Dwayne Powell (Angela) and many great nieces, great nephews and cousins.
