Bessie Lee Shelton's Obituary
Our Beloved Mother Bessie Lee Shelton was Born in Madison, Georgia on February 4, 1932, to the late Mr. & Mrs. Andrew and Rosie Lee Lett. She had a twin brother the late Andrew M.D. Lett. She departed her earthy life on April 25, 2025. Our mother was one of nine children and grew up in a rural community where she and the family worked very hard every day. She attended school with her siblings, helping her mother with daily household chores.
She later met and married Paul Shelton in 1953 and from this union nine children were born. Our mother was a wonderful, loving and caring mama. She worked hard taking care of her family, but as her children grew up our mother decided to go to work at Holiday Inn and worked there for seven years. She was a faithful servant of God. She became a member of Millers Chapel Baptist Church in Conyers Georgia in 1964 and been a devoted member for 61 years. She was very honored to be on the Mother's Board until her health prevented her from attending church service in her later years. She was always singing the praises of God every day.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Shelton, two sons, Edmond Shelton & Jesse L Shelton, one daughter, Dorothy A. Shelton, five brothers, Odell Lett, Andrew M.D. Lett, Thomas Lett, Lester E. Lett & Troy Lett, two sisters, Josephine Vinson & Sallie Mae Usher and a sister-in-law, Emma Lett.
