Benjamin Darvin Jones' Obituary
Mr. Benjamin D. Jones was born October 19, 1933 to Pastor Burrell and Mrs. Calidone Jones in Mobile, Alabama. He was educated in the Mobile public school system and then later went on to attend Wilberforce University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1954. He furthered his education by attending Pace University and graduated with a Master's Degree of Science.
Mr. Ben, as he was affectionately known, served honorably in the United States Army as 1st Lieutenant. He served over 14 years.
He served in several community organizations such as the Prince Hall Masonic Grand Lodge and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
He was truly a man of God. He was a long term member at the Greater Allen Cathedral AME Church in Jamaica Queens, New York and later moved to Saint Phillips AME Church in Atlanta, Ga.
He leaves to cherish his memory, a loving wife, Lovie Wilson-Jones; one son, Bradford (Gwen) Jones; two stepsons, John Wilson, Kenneth (Cheryl) Wilson; a special granddaughter, Ebony Wilson; a close cousin, Hugh Vasconcellos and a host of close relatives and friends.
