Archie Lee Levell Jr.'s Obituary
Archie Lee Levell Jr., Ph.D was born March 17, 1940, in Miami, FL to Mr. Archie and Mrs. Annie Bell-Levell. He graduated high school in Brooklyn, NY and attended Kentucky State University on a basketball scholarship before obtaining his MBA and Ph.D in Theological Studies in Atlanta, GA. Dr. Levell was a member of Omega Psi Phi, Fraternity Inc. Dr. Levell served as an Associate Minister at Green Forest Baptist Church and Berean Christian Church before finding his church home at Springfield Baptist Church in Conyers, GA. Dr. Levell humbly served God by teaching others the word of the Lord. He taught the Ministers in Training classes at Springfield Baptist Church for several years. He played an integral part in the growth and development of many of the past and current ministers on Springfield's Ministerial Staff. Dr. Levell was passionate about his ability to spread the word of the Lord and was committed to maintaining long lasting relationships with the people he taught and worshiped with. Archie was a caring father. He was a doting father to his children and a strict, old-school disciplinarian. Looking back, it creates a lot of laughs in the family, but he molded his children into strong individuals. Another passion for Archie was basketball. He helped find a connection with his children by teaching them the game of basketball and supporting their athletic activities. Archie never committed to a favorite team but he always seemed to side with the favored opponent. Archie is preceded in death by his parents Archie and Annie Levell and his two brothers: Arthur Levell and Jimmie Levell. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Monique Jones and Ruben Jones; son, Anthony Levell; son and daughter-in-law, Damon Levell and Shaunna Levell; His first love and mother of his children, Lydia Levell; six grandchildren: Devaughn Levell, London Levell-Wilkens, Justin Jones, Dylan Levell, Lauren Levell, and Summer Levell; two sisters: Anne Beckham and Betty Levell, Ph.D; and numerous nieces and nephews.
