Alice Maude Bailey's Obituary
Alice Bailey, a kind and loving woman who devoted her life to her family and community, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2025. Born on December 15, 1936, in Lithonia, Georgia, Alice was the beloved daughter of the late Willie Floyd and Maudel Waits. Alice attended grade school and high school in Lithonia and later received her honorary diploma from Bruce Street High School in 2010, a testament to her lifelong commitment to learning and her community. Alice was a devout member of Flat Rock Church, where she became a member at an early age and remained active throughout her life, contributing her time and love to the church family. On December 21, 1957, Alice married Mckennrist Bailey, Sr., and together they shared eight children, creating a loving home filled with warmth, joy, and unwavering support. In her professional life, Alice worked with dedication at Marshalls Distribution Center for 24 years before retiring in 2004. Outside of her work, Alice's greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She loved to cook, often preparing meals that brought everyone together. She also had a green thumb, tending to her garden with care and pride. Family gatherings, particularly the WGW reunions, were among her favorite times, and she cherished the opportunity to connect with loved ones. Alice was a pillar of strength, love, and devotion. Her family and friends will remember her not only for her nurturing spirit but also for her deep faith, her laughter, and the warmth she brought into every room she entered. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, husband, son Alfred and two brothers, Johnny and William. She leaves to cherish her memory her seven children; Jerry (Georgia), Constance, McKennrist, Teresa, Brenda (Rodney), Carol, and Brian (Katie), sixteen grandchildren; Cedric (Sharell), Cleavon (Tamara), Demetrius, Tiffany, Octavies (Brent), Delmar, Bernard (Jessica), Tristan, Danielle, Christy, Faythe, Kesa (Mareo), Caleb, Kegan, Toni, and Tyler; sixteen great grandchildren; one sister, Alberta, two brothers Luther and Thomas (Shirlene), four sisters-in-law, Lillian Waites, Martha Waites, Helen Bailey, and Lillie Bailey; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and fellow church members, all of whom were touched by her kindness. Alice Bailey will be greatly missed, but her legacy of love and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
